Hinsdale Adventist Academy made excellent progress while under the Renaissance Network's management

Posted on March 27th, 2015

The Alumni Awards Foundation Board of Directors voted on March 13, 2015, to not enter into a second two-year Memorandum of Understanding with the Hinsdale Adventist Academy (HAA). The Renaissance Network will continue to provide management and support services to HAA throughout the remainder of our current agreement, which ends on June 30, 2015.

We are proud of the exceptional progress HAA has made under our leadership. Together, and with God’s help, we have reached many milestones during the 24-month period of our first agreement, including but not limited to the following:

  • The Renaissance Network renegotiated major contracts and cut expenses, resulting in more than $300,000 of savings for the school.
  • HAA has a viable, balanced budget and is operating in the black for the first time in many years.
  • New fiscal policies were instituted to carefully monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable and cash flow. As a result, HAA is now current and in good standing with the Illinois Conference for the 2014-2015 school year.
  • The School Enhancement Plan was revised, mid-year, to include $115,000 of student aid to assist those students who could not otherwise pay all their tuition.
  • Despite reductions in the school’s budget, the quality of education at HAA is improving and the public is noticing. HAA was recently named in the top 100 of all private schools in the state of Illinois.
  • The spiritual program at HAA is exceptional, with the student body actively involved in ministry and outreach.
  • The Renaissance Network has encouraged open communication, cooperation and collaboration among all stakeholders, including the Conference, the School Board, the school administration, and AAF, instilling new confidence and morale at the academy.
  • Working in close collaboration with the Renaissance Network, our interim principal has done an outstanding job. Of particular significance, Dr. Gerald Coy has repaired fractured interpersonal relationships at the school and has created a functional, high-trust faculty team.
  • The Renaissance Network has invested in HAA’s greatest asset—its faculty and staff—by providing funding and guidance to ensure they remain engaged in the best educational practices and techniques.

We have especially enjoyed working with the HAA faculty and staff. Their ongoing love, devotion and hard work for the school, its mission and its students continues to inspire and motivate our work.
The Alumni Awards Foundation deeply appreciates the confidence the Illinois Conference, the HAA Board of Trustees, and the School Constituency demonstrated by signing the first Memorandum of Understanding nearly two years ago. We are grateful for their partnership as we have pursued excellence in Adventist education. Together we have made a difference!
As part of the Alumni Awards Foundation family, HAA will remain in our thoughts and prayers. We wish the academy every success as it continues the journey to become all that our Heavenly Father wants it to be.
